Decades of piecemeal legislation have not brought women equal justice under the law. Only the Equal Rights Amendment can do that. Good News! Illinois, ratified the Equal Rights Amendment! Now what, you ask?
If you are in Illinois, first thank our Illinois congressional delegation members that voted for removing the deadline with H.J.Res 79. Next, call our senators. They are both co-sponsors, but the bigger hurdle is to get a vote on S.J.Res.6. All you have to do is say "I am a constituent. Please push for a vote lift the deadline on the Equal Rights Amendment." Then put a reminder on you calendar to call again next week.

Meanwhile, the Illinois Attorney General filed a lawsuit to ensure the Equal Rights Amendment is affirmed by the courts. Thank you Kwame Raoul!
After Virginia became the 38th state, all eyes are on Utah, Arizona, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Missouri, Louisiana, and Georgia to continue ratification for all 50 states.
Now matter where you live, fairness should be the rule for everyone. The 28th Amendment is effective January 27, 2022. Has your state reviewed its statutes for compliance?
